Take Apart What Intimidates You

The obsession that taught me more than any tutorial.

The first time I saw Scissor, I felt two things at once. Intimidated and obsessed. The layouts were fluid, the interactions smooth, the engineering years ahead of anything I could build. Most people feel that and move on. I decided to sit inside the feeling instead.

So I rebuilt it. Not by following a guide, because there wasn't one, but by pulling apart what I could see and trying to recreate it from scratch. My animations broke. My layouts collapsed at the edges. My logic fell apart under real content.

I failed for days. And every failure taught me something a finished tutorial never could, because I wasn't copying steps. I was reverse-engineering a standard, which meant I had to actually understand why each piece worked, not just that it did.

That one project taught me more about frontend architecture than months of courses. Not because it was special, but because the gap between what I could do and what I was reaching for was where all the learning lived.

Now, whenever I find work that's clearly beyond me, I don't look away and I don't get discouraged. I take it apart until it's mine. Intimidation stopped being a wall and became a map to the next thing worth learning.

If something makes you feel like you'll never be that good, that's the exact thing to go and rebuild. The discomfort is the point. It's the fastest way I know to grow.
